French Alps, Parc de la Vanoise.  Le Petit Hibou is situated at the end of the Nancroix valley nestled in a mountain paradise at the base of two enormous mountains – Mont Pourri and the Bellecote.  Amongst skiers and snowboarders this area is known for its off-piste lines from the adjacent ski resorts (La Plagne and Les Arcs) and when the snow melts, it becomes a spectacular place to explore by foot and retreat to for a pure Nature immersion.

Frequently asked Questions

How fit do I need to be to go on this retreat?
Alpine hiking involves uphill and downhill challenges that make it unsuitable for the injured or those in ill-health.  An adequate level of fitness is advised to enable walking adventures through varied terrain and all weather for sustained periods of up to 3 hrs.

Is this a Vegan retreat?
The emphasis is on 3 quality, locally produced, nutritionally balanced meals a day. A full range of food groups will be offered.  However, if you are Vegan or Vegetarian or have specific dietary requirements please tell us. Caz caters for everyone incredibly well.

How much yoga experience do I need?
Two Yoga classes will be offered each day in compliment to the daily activities.  Morning sessions will be dynamic and evenings more restorative.  Bec’s signature style, Vinyasa Flow will be central to the sessions so some experience of yoga is advised to make your experience fun and enjoyable. Nevertheless, whatever your yoga experience, Bec will offer sessions adapted to meet each persons needs and ensure everyone is suitably challenged and chilled.

Will lunch be provided?
Yes, every day you will be provided with lunch, whether a sit down meal at the Hibou or picnic style in the wilderness.  Lunch will never disappoint!

Can my allergies or dietary restrictions be catered for?
Yes, absolutely – Caz specializes in this field.

Will I have my own bedroom?
The Chalet is boutique by nature and by size.  The accommodation is shared, recently renovated tastefully and to a high standard.  There are 3 bedrooms, twin or double.  One of which is a family room and can sleep 3.

Can I have ensuite toilet and bathroom?
Yes, all rooms are ensuite with toilet, wash hand basin and shower.

I live locally. Can I participate but not stay at the Hibou?
Yes, we have 3 spaces available for people who want to participate but stay nearby. Contact us for more details.

What do I need to bring?
On booking, we will send you an information pack with all the details and information that you will need.

Bedding, towels, hairdryer etc will all be provided.  Yoga mats and props will be provided.

Will Mountain hikes be guided?
There are numerous hikes of varying lengths and degrees of difficulty that you can freely access from the door. We will not provide a guide but we will provide maps and use our local knowledge to help you select suitably awesome hikes.  We will accompany you on at least 3 mountain hikes to help you orientate yourself and feel confident to explore more.

What if I don’t want to take part in all the hikes / yoga / activities?
Nothing is compulsory. You may take part in as little or as much as you like.

What if the weather is wet and wild?
These mountains have their own weather systems. Through all seasons we can experience unsettled and inhospitable weather. Late summer often offers great outdoor weather with sunny days and cooler mornings and nights. If bad weather comes in, we will adapt our schedule accordingly.  If the conditions hinder our outdoor pursuits, we have a number of Little Owl workshops up our sleeves, from Caz’s kitchen workshops to Bec’s Late Summer Yoga workshops….. you will almost be wishing it to rain for at least one day!

I have other questions how do I contact you?
